Bulk carrier Star Iris was targeted twice by Houthi missiles at the Bab al Mandab Strait

The bulk carrier Star Iris was targeted twice by Houthi missiles, while transiting the Bab al Mandab Strait in the Red Sea in a southeast direction. The vessel was en route from Vila do Conde port in Portugal to the port of Bandar Imam Khomeini in Iran with an ETA as of February 19.

Following the missiles attack, the ship suffered damage on its starboard side. Luckily no injuries among the crew were reported.

The vessel continue its voyage to Iran, where will be inspected.

The bulk carrier Star Iris (IMO: 9284910) is operated by the Greek company Star Bulk Management. The ship has overall length of 225.00 m, moulded beam of 32.00 m. The 2004-built ship has deadweight of 76,466 DWT and a gross tonnage of 40,092 GRT.
